Krista Forsyth Fisher was born in the small fishing town of Anacortes, Washington. While growing up she was intrigued and stimulated by the strong arts community that thrived there.
At The Evergreen State College in Olympia Krista became friends with many artists and musicians who influenced her artistic aesthetic. She loved the low-tech immediacy of the punk ethos, and the philosophy that art and music could be made with the simplest of materials.
In Seattle, Krista enrolled in the BFA Sculpture Program at the University of Washington. While attending school she married and started a family and still managed to graduate with honors!
Krista’s artwork explores the notion of creating in series as a way to get at an idea from many directions. Creating similar forms over again allows her to see what impact materials will have on the form. This results in each piece expressing an unforeseen mood or voice.
Krista is currently working in abstractions of the female form. The series is titled Personal Armor.
